Description
Nedd Brockmann is a motivational speaker, ultramarathon runner and the 2026 Young Australian of the Year. Before he became a household name, he was an electrician who had only taken up running two years earlier. He then turned a personal challenge into a national movement that has raised over $10.6 million for people experiencing homelessness.
Nedd grew up on his family’s farm near Forbes in Central West NSW. In 2019 he moved to Sydney to work as an electrician. On his weekly trips to TAFE, he saw people sleeping rough and decided to do something about it.
In 2022 he ran 3,953 km from Cottesloe Beach in Perth to Bondi Beach in Sydney in just over 46 days. As a result, he became the fastest Australian to run across the country. He averaged around 85 km a day and pushed through injuries, harsh conditions and constant logistical challenges. More than 10,000 people welcomed him home at Bondi.
Nedd Brockmann Motivational Speaker: Showing Up for Others
That run raised $2.6 million for the charity We Are Mobilise. In turn, it helped fund Australia’s first direct cash transfer program for people experiencing homelessness. In 2024 he went further again, running 1,000 miles in 12 and a half days on the Sydney Olympic Park athletics track. Through Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge, he and his team have since raised over $8 million more.
Nedd is also the author of two books, Showing Up and Fire Up. In addition, his journey features in the documentary Nedd Brockmann: Runn. In 2026 he was named NSW Young Australian of the Year and then Young Australian of the Year.
As a motivational speaker, Nedd does far more than recap his challenges. His unique energy and unpolished style feel refreshing next to buttoned up corporate speakers. Above all, he wants audiences to leave ready to take on their own challenges, push themselves and get comfortable being uncomfortable.
