Brett’s opportunity to meet with challenge came in 2019 whilst working at the Adelaide Crows Football Club. In late 2016 Brett was appointed as the Head of Football at the Adelaide Crows.

In 2017 the club finished minor premiers and played off in the AFL Grand Final for the first time in 20 years, eventually losing to Richmond. Over the next 2 years the Crows missed the finals and after a very publicised review process, Brett was sacked.

Brett enjoys sharing his story of navigating the public nature of high performance sport and working with individuals and teams to help set them up with a mindset for success and perform at their best.

Why book Brett Burton as your wellbeing speaker

After retiring from playing, Brett spent a decade in senior leadership roles. He was High Performance Manager at the Brisbane Lions, then Head of Football at the Adelaide Crows. Today, he draws on that background in human performance to help people develop holistically. He is also a dedicated father of five with a genuine passion for meditation.

In 2016, Brett was appointed Head of Football at the Adelaide Crows. The following year, the club finished minor premiers and played in its first AFL Grand Final in 20 years, its first appearance in a decider in two decades. But the next two seasons brought a different story. The Crows missed the finals, and after a highly public review, Brett was sacked. He now shares that experience openly, using it to help audiences navigate the pressures of high performance.

Brett’s keynotes draw on the latest research in wellbeing, neuroscience, positive psychology and leadership. He combines that research with personal story to help every audience member maximise their potential. Central to his message is the idea of Wellbeing Ability: our capacity to take real action, using the right knowledge, skills and strategies, to navigate life’s challenges and genuinely thrive, both on stage and in the everyday moments that matter most.
