Glenn Cooper

Coopers Brewery was founded in 1862 and today remains Australia’s largest owned brewery.

In July 1990, Glenn joined the family brewery and took on the role of Sales and Marketing Director, eventually becoming Chairman in 2001.

Under his leadership, Coopers Brewery introduced several new products to its beer range, including Coopers Mild Ale, Coopers Dark Ale, Coopers Extra Strong Vintage Ale, and Coopers Lager. Glenn played a pivotal role in the national growth of Coopers Original Pale Ale.

Beyond his contributions to the brewery, Glenn served as Chairman of the Australian Made Australian Grown Group from 2012 to 2021.

He also held director positions in companies, Bundaberg Brewed Drinks Company and Haymes Paints Australia and served as an advisor to OBE Organic Beef Australia and the Maras Group of Developers.

In the past, Glenn chaired the Adelaide Fringe Committee (1994-1999) and the Adelaide Convention and Tourism Authority (1998-2006). He received a Centenary Medal in 2002 and was honored as a Member of the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2005 for his services to South Australia and the Arts.

In 2007, Glenn completed the Kokoda Track, following in the footsteps of his uncle, Colonel Geoff Cooper.

The Coopers Success Story

Glenn Cooper recently stepped down as Chairman for 22years and Coopers Brewery Board member for 35 years.

Over those 35 years Glenn has seen enormous changes in Corporate and Family companies and highlights the changes in strategies that have evolved over that time.

Glenn provides both a humorous and serious look into of how Sales, Marketing and family structures have not only evolved but changed.

Some of those changes he is supportive of and others he believes could be left behind. Hear is views on family successes and failures and why he believes why some continually fail.

Glenn Cooper presentations are mixed with emotions the highest being the company’s hostile take of bid by the giant Brewer Kiren launched in September 2005 which ultimately failed. How did David beat Goliath in this epic battle.
